CASE STUDY
Enhancing Student Success with Slate
Streamlining Academic Support with SIS Integration and Process Automation
Chapman University is a private research university in Orange, CA with a total enrollment of roughly 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

Reason for partnership
Chapman sought a partner to thoughtfully complete its standalone Slate for Student Success implementation with an eye toward function. Looking for both technical assistance and strategy focused on prioritization of targeted constituent processes, Chapman aimed to significantly expedite and improve student-focused engagements previously managed via its campus SIS and manual intervention.
“Utilizing Slate for the past ten years in our Admissions office, the university decided to roll out an Academic Advising instance to better assist first year students as they joined the Chapman community. The collaboration with The Parish Group was nothing short of amazing. They are known for their in-depth understanding of higher education administration and their ability to tailor solutions to meet the specific needs of institutions.
TPG is a trusted partner, who will not only get you the results you want but will provide you with a better path if one is available. The Parish Group’s experience with Slate has helped us to streamline and optimize the student advising processes. Our partnership with The Parish Group will continue as we roll Slate out to other departments and colleges within our organization.”
TPG’s Approach

Outcomes
Chapman University achieves higher student engagement and advisor efficiency with automated academic improvement plans.
After launching the new Academic Improvement Plan process via Slate, which combines a series of internal and student-facing forms, a custom entity, and conditional portal display, academic advisors saw 80% of students placed on academic probation for the previous term acknowledge and agree to the terms of their academic improvement plan within two business days of notification. What had previously taken multiple weeks to prepare and execute with limited return saw significant increases in student engagement coupled with a major reduction in time spent by academic advisors.
