We’re expanding our Slate team here at The Parish Group and are excited to welcome Dave Debor as our new Director of Slate Operations.
Dave has a lengthy and impressive college admissions background and is passionate about creating systems and processes that make recruiting students as seamless as possible. We’re looking forward to the Slate insights and expertise Dave will undoubtedly bestow upon our partners.
Welcome to the team, Dave! Let us know more about your role and responsibilities.
I’ll be helping partners implement Slate in line with current best practices, reimagine existing processes, and find creative new ways to use Slate.
What did you do prior to joining The Parish Group?
I worked at a variety of institutions, starting with Washington & Jefferson College, then Carnegie Mellon (where I first learned Slate), and briefly at George Washington University, where I worked in graduate admissions operations, before moving on to UC Santa Barbara, where I leveraged Slate at a massive scale. A lifelong admissions professional, I draw on my diverse experience to recommend better ways to do old jobs.
What are some of your goals for your position at The Parish Group?
I look forward to making configurable joins feel accessible, showcasing the latest Slate functionality, empowering admissions staff on the “front lines,” and helping partners realize that even the most long-standing processes still have room to be optimized and improved.
Where did you go to college?
I have my BA from Gettysburg College and a Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon.
What are you involved in/do outside of work? What are your interests?
I love going out to the movies, especially when it’s preceded or followed by a trip to a new restaurant. Other than that, I mostly enjoy spending time with good friends.
What does higher education mean to you?
Higher education, to me, means finding a place to truly develop and learn who you are as a person while finding a series of passions you can translate into professional and personal success.
